Where can you work?

Basically everywhere you want to travel to

What do you need?

You need a blog – that's a rather obvious necessity. You might also want to accompany it with a suite of social media outlets of your choice. You may want to have a rather light laptop or tablet. Every now and then you will need internet access to post your stuff online. You also have to take pictures. Even if your writing skills resembled those of Hemighway, the internet is a pretty visual place. For some mobile photography is enough – any smartphone with a good camera should do. Others rely only on professional digital or (even) analog cameras.

What skills are rather necessary?

One obvious skill comes to mind – you have to love and be able to travel. But that is certainly not enough. Let's be honest, competition is fierce. You have to be able to find a great niche, to write captivating stories that are SEO friendly and be able to take great pictures. If you are just beginning your love affair with photography, then you must read our free ebook on digital photography. You can download it here

Where can you work?

Basically everywhere but since your job is more demanding in terms of internet access and the size of your computer, you should always have that in mind.

What do you need?

As mentioned before you'll need a good internet connection – broadband would be the best. You'll also need a rather professional computer and a selection of most popular applications like one from Adobe (Photoshop, Indesign, etc.) or Pixelmator, depending on the kind of graphic design you want to focus on.  In some cases you might even need a printer/scanner.

What skills are necessary?

To be a good designer you need to be a great designer. Depending on the path you choose – editorial, webdesign, typography or other, you will need various skills. There are those technical skills of mastering the given tools (applications) and the artistic skills of mastering composition, style and creativity. The first come simply with practice and can be even achieved by online tutorials while the latter are far more subjective. Most say that before you establish your distinctive style it is best to look for inspiration and learn from others by trying to mimic their style.
